When To Rebuild Your Bypass Shocks
Bypass shocks are working harder than coilovers — multiple bleed ports, more seals, and tighter tolerances. They benefit from more frequent service. Rebuild when you notice:
- Oil weeping or visible leaks.
- Damping that feels inconsistent or “fades” during long runs.
- Reduced progressive resistance near bottom-out.
- Higher operating temperatures than usual.
Plan on rebuilds every 50–100 hours of hard riding for trail use, or every season for race builds.
