4.0″ External Bypass Shock — Free Bleed Technology

The Solid Shocks Co. 4.0″ External Bypass shock is the most capable, most adjustable shock in our lineup. Built around our proprietary Free Bleed monotube design with a larger 4.0″ body — engineered for heavy trophy trucks, class-1 buggies, and serious desert racing where consistent performance under maximum abuse is non-negotiable.

Free Bleed Monotube Design

• Single-tube external bypass flows more fluid than competing multi-tube designs — smoother ride, easier tuning, fewer points of failure. (Note: 4.0″ shocks in 18″ and 20″ lengths use a dual-tube layout due to size.)
• High-flow piston with reduced bleed delivers stronger progressive bump zones and unmatched bottom-out resistance.
• Adjustable bypass tubes let you dial compression and rebound zones independently — terrain-specific tuning without changing shocks.

Built for Big-Bore Performance

• 4.0″ CNC-machined, zinc-coated steel body handles heavy chassis weight and big landings without flex or fade.
• Induction-hardened, chrome-plated shaft resists pitting, wear, and contamination over thousands of cycles.
• Large external reservoir with increased oil capacity delivers superior cooling and consistent damping in punishing conditions.
• Single-tube design allows a larger cylinder diameter in tight applications — often eliminating the need for a hydraulic bump stop.
